Origami boat in paradise – Chapter one

This is the first chapter of an "Origami for the people" funny story (in four chapters)… now I was again in Tuscany and again I went to Bagno Vignoni because of some aerosol with thermal waters one of us had to do….
I was walking around the small village and I came to see the medieval showers again and looking down and down I saw this waterfall… and at the end of the waterfall there was this perfectly turquoise small lake…. "Hey wow! We really must go there and reach the lake and make a paper boat for the people and take a picture"… so looked for the road taking there and when discovered I learnt it is a part of the notorious "Via Francigena" (sooner or later I’ll walk at least part of it!)… so I thought I could walk a little and I reached the most surprisngly beautiful micro-paradise I ever saw…. you walk for no more then 10 minutes in the wood… with butterflies flying around you, birds singing…. looks like a movie… then you find a stair carved in the limestone and then …. no words! This small lake at the end of the waterfall… the reservoir of the lake is all white limestone so the water is perfectly turquoise … there are dragonflies flying and you can bath there under the waterfall…. this place also is protected by UNESCO … and it is not difficult to understand why… I put my small paper boat… but it was not enough… I thought to make a sakuradama cherry blossom and to go back the day after with it "… for the people…"

Sleeping Boats

Sometimes I’m reminded of just how much of a geek I am. Like when I get up on a workday at 4 AM to catch the sunrise colors. So early that no one else is up except for the street sweeper! The reward is in the images, like today’s post, Sleeping Boats.
This was my first sunrise trip to the Hudson Marina in Hudson, Wisconsin. Hudson has a pier that runs clear out into the middle of the St. Croix River and allows for good angles on the boats anchored in the marina. No one was moving around at this time of the morning which made it that much better – no movement except for the elements – wind, water, clouds, trees, etc.
This HDR is a bit knocked down – the full details enhancer tone mapping was just too much! Still got quite a bit of the dynamic range, but not to an unrealistic measure. The colors are still quite good, also.
f16 aperture, 200 ISO, and a 44mm focal length. Processed with the Exposure Fusion in Photomatix, masked in GIMP, and finished in Photoshop Elements.
